To manage the cost of using your Telstra mobile or mobile broadband service overseas, use the links below to see how our International Casual Traveller Data Packs and International Roaming Browse Plus Packs can give you more value and peace of mind.

Data Packs are ideal for infrequent travellers and holiday makers.

For a one-off charge, International Casual Traveller Data Packs give Telstra Post-Paid mobile and Telstra Mobile Broadband customersexcluding BigPond® Mobile Broadband a data allowance for use in selected countries for 30 days from the date of activation.

Browse Plus Packs are a great addition to your Pre-Paid service and can help you save on international data usage fees.

These packs are available to use in a selection of countries where International Roaming is available.

Telstra’s International Roaming data alerts are to be used as a guide only to help you manage your data usage. The alerts will not stop you from exceeding any International Roaming data allowance from an International Casual Traveller Data pack or Frequent Traveller Data plan you may have.

Data used outside of an International Casual Traveller Data pack or Frequent Traveller Data plan will be charged at 1.5 cents per kilobyte (which equals $15.36 per MB).

The SMS alerts are sent in 20MB increments except when you are roaming and using data in Hong Kong. For example, if you use 65MB of data overseas (in countries other than Hong Kong) we will send you alerts informing you that you have used 20MB, 40MB and 60MB of data overseas.

If your trip includes travelling to Hong Kong where you intend to use data on your mobile, any data usage alerts you receive in other countries on the same trip, will not include the data you use in Hong Kong.

It’s important to note that we rely on the overseas network carriers in the countries you are travelling in to forward to you the SMS data usage alerts and this may cause a delay in receiving the alerts. This means that you could receive alerts once you have already used more than the 20MB increment.
