Pricing

These prices are valid for all new Telstra Internet Direct services from 1 July 2003 until further notice. Services in place as at 30 June 2003 will remain on pre 1 July 2003 prices. If you are an existing customer with no fixed term contractual commitment, you may apply to migrate your existing service to the new pricing below by completing the Pricing Change Form.

This pricing information should be read in conjunction with the Telstra Internet Direct Section of Our Customer Terms.

The pricing information provided below relates to the Telstra Internet Direct service only. The standard price structure has two main components:

  • a once-only Connection Charge and
  • a recurring Monthly Charge.
  • excess usage charge (if tiered)

The Connection Charge depends upon the type of access you require. This charge relates to the Telstra Internet Direct installation only and not the connection of any new carriage service from your site to the Telstra Internet Direct Point of Presence.

You can select either Tiered Pricing or Fixed Pricing for your ongoing Monthly Charge. The Monthly Charge payable depends on the pricing option selected, access speed, and if you select Tiered Pricing, your access type and the amount of traffic you receive. The Monthly Charges for Tiered Pricing have been designed to encourage content development through the charging of all received traffic volumes, and only charging for any sent traffic over the Backchannel Threshold Ratio of 4:1. Monthly Charges are calculated in accordance with the following parameters:

  • Usage is defined as the number of Megabytes delivered to and sent from your access port on a daily basis (AEST)*, aggregated to a monthly total.
  • Backchannel Tariff only applies to any traffic sent over the Backchannel Threshold Ratio of 4:1, and does not apply to Fixed Pricing. Backchannel Tariff Details.
  • All Monthly Charges include a dedicated port at the Telstra Internet Direct Point of Presence.

It is important that you note:

  • You will need a Connecting Carriage Service (eg. Megalink, Business DSL, Ethernet MAN) between your own site and the Telstra Internet Direct Point of Presence, except in the case of a Telstra Internet Direct ADSL (Business Broadband) service or a Telstra Internet Direct Premium Package where the service includes the Connecting Carriage Service. Please contact your Account Representative or Telstra Internet Direct Sales on 1800 655 744 (external pre-sales) for assistance in selecting such a Connecting Carriage Service.
  • The billing period is monthly, payable by the date specified on the invoice or, if not specified, within 30 days of the date of the invoice. Charges are calculated on a calendar month basis, beginning on the 1st of each month and are billed in arrears, eg. the account received in July will be for traffic received in June.
