Optional Services

In addition to the standard Telstra Internet Direct service, you can elect to use any of the optional services listed here or in the technical section. For more information click on the following:

Telstra Exchange Mail

If you don't wish to maintain your own mail server infrastructure, you can add Telstra Exchange Mail to your service.

Telstra Exchange Mail is provided from Telstra's enterprise hosting environment and offers a robust, business grade email platform based on Microsoft® Exchange Server 2003. By choosing Exchange Mail, you will receive the benefit of enhanced features such as scheduling, calendar, antivirus/anti-spam protection (for mail transferred via the Exchange Mail server), as well as a "global address list" of all users in your organisation. All mailboxes include 15MB storage allowance.

Telstra Exchange Mail enables you to use your own corporate domain name. You must set up your own unique and registered domain name prior to ordering your Telstra Exchange Mail service.

Telstra Exchange Mail has three different options that you can choose from. You are not limited to one option; you can have a mixture of all three, allowing you to tailor the service to your business requirements.

  •  Standard Mailbox includes a mailbox, Microsoft Outlook Web Access and Access to global address lists.
  •  Standard + Calendar has the features of Standard, with the addition of a Personal Calendar, which is not shared.
  •  Advanced Mailbox provides you with all the Standard features (except the optional personal calendar), plus access to a shared calendar, scheduling capability, contacts and integration with Microsoft Outlook 2003 (client license is included for use with the Telstra Exchange Mail service).

CustData

All Telstra Internet Direct customers are provided with online access to many tools and reports through the “CustData” feature. This standard offering is available online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and provides you with secure, near real-time information and tools on your organisation’s Internet traffic, service levels and account details. The service assists you in network planning and budgeting, via analysing usage trends, managing access bandwidth and planning scalable upgrades.

By using the CustData feature, you can:

  • Access comprehensive performance reports, including graphs and polling data.
  • View & change routing information.
  • View & change domain (DNS) records.
  • View outage reports & log fault reports.
  • Configure secondary mail server.
  • View online Statement of Charges (previous month).
  • Establish or change email contacts for billing, operational information and account usage statistics.

If you have a Telstra Internet Direct service, click here to login to CustData.

Traffic Statistics

By using the CustData feature, you can access traffic statistics and reports for each connection you have to Telstra Internet Direct.

Reviewing your traffic patterns can highlight a variation in traffic volume before the account is received and allow you to pinpoint the reason for the variation. This can be particularly useful to determine if you are receiving unwanted Internet traffic due to viruses or Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, or you may need to upgrade your service.

Business Mail

With the introduction of the Telstra Exchange Mail option, from October 2004 Telstra will no longer offer Business Mail directly with a Telstra Internet Direct service. Existing Business Mail services will continue to be supported by Telstra BigPond, rather than Telstra Internet Direct. No changes will apply to your charges or current method of invoicing.

To make updates to your existing Business Mail service in future, you will need to:

  1. go to: http://www.bigpond.com/myaccount/ and select 'My Dial-Up Business Account' using your BigPond username and password provided when you signed up to Business Mail; or
  2. call Telstra BigPond on 13 12 82, select 2 and follow the prompts.
