Backchannel Tariff
The Backchannel Tariff applies to traffic sent from your services (or sites) that is in excess of the maximum allowable sent/received ratio known as the Backchannel Threshold Ratio or BTR. The BTR is derived by dividing "sent" traffic for a billing month by "received" traffic for the month. "Sent" traffic is traffic sent to the Internet via your Telstra Internet Direct service (This is shown as "IN" traffic on your CustData screen). "Received" traffic is traffic received from the Internet via your Telstra Internet Direct service (This is shown as "OUT" traffic on your CustData screen).
It is important to note that for the purposes of determining your sent/received traffic, the total sent and received traffic across all of your services on the same Account is aggregated and Backchannel Charges will be applied if the BTR on the Account (excluding Telstra Internet Direct Services on Fixed Pricing) in any month exceeds 4:1.
If your sent traffic exceeds your received traffic by more than the BTR, a charge of 4.4 cents (inclusive of GST) per Megabyte will apply to the sent traffic in excess of the BTR.
Backchannel Tariff Structure (inclusive of GST):
| Backchannel Threshold Ratio | Backchannel Charge |
|---|---|
| 4:1 | 4.4 cents per Megabyte |
