Internet Protocol Virtual Private Networks (IP VPN) are mainly used by big business, including government and enterprise. The basic concept of a VPN is to connect networks in separate offices and make them appear as one, or to connect remote individuals to their corporate network. This enables all employees connected to the VPN to interact with each other as though they are in the same building.

IP WAN now comes with the option of IPv6 addressing for a number of access types

Benefits

Helps you manage your costs
With IP WAN, businesses can simply use a single data connection in each location. All routing and delivery of valuable data is managed by the secure Telstra Next IP® network. This enables you to identify opportunities to save on traditional costs associated with building and maintaining an office-to-office data network.

Improved security and reliability
IP WAN is a fully managed data network, combining the flexible communications of IP networks with the reliability and security of traditional data networks. New or existing Telstra data services can be connected to Telstra’s IP WAN network linking offices and business partners, while still offering access to business grade internet services.

Easy access to your information
Manage internet access over your dedicated IP WAN. High-speed fixed-line data communications (Ethernet, Frame Relay and BDSL), wireless data (ie. Next G® network) and even ISDN, satellite and dial-up are available as access options on the IP WAN network. A range of value added services (VAS) are available with IP WAN, enabling your business to manage the security of the internet, applications, email and remote IP WAN network access. You can even extend your network coverage via the Telstra Next G® network or GPRS with our IP Wireless solution that integrates into IP WAN.

IPv6 addressing is also now available with a number of access options.

Integrate into your existing IP infrastructure
IP WAN is run on our private network infrastructure, separate and secure from the internet. Your existing data networking infrastructure can be easily integrated onto the IP WAN network, providing IP connectivity between your premises.

Extend your coverage for mobile access
IP Wireless provides high-speed, secure and affordable mobile connectivity to internal business applications available on the IP WAN.

Work with the best
The Telstra Next IP® network core provides 99.999% reliability, and when fully scaled, the IP/MPLS core has up to 92Tbps per node capacity. This intelligent network supports dynamic Class of Service (CoS), offering six levels of traffic and application prioritisation, including a real-time priority queue. IP WAN is based on internet protocol (IP) – an open international standard for data networks – and provides businesses with a wide range of security features.

Features

Meet your business growth aspirations

IP WAN core features include:

  • Any-to-any connectivity
  • Scalability
  • Security
  • Class of service (CoS) across sites or applications
  • Strong service level agreements (SLA)
  • Virtualisation of IP services.
  • Now with the option of IPv6 addressing

Access your network remotely and connect to the internet using optional value added services (VAS) such as managed firewalls, application hosting and email.

IP WAN will support any IP based application, such as:

  • Intranets
  • Extranets
  • E-commerce or other business management applications
  • Application Service Providers (ASP)
  • Communities of interest (COIN)
  • Branch office network connectivity
  • Wireless remote network access solutions including: email, messaging and internet access (with appropriate security features).

Choose the right Class of Service (CoS) option for your business
Choose either Dynamic (CoS) or Data Transfer of Service for each site connected to the IP WAN network, based on the performance you need and the price you can afford.

Dynamic CoS (D-CoS)
D-CoS provides six levels of traffic prioritisation, the highest level providing a real-time priority queue that is optimised for latency (delay) and jitter intolerant applications such as voice over IP (VOIP) and video conferencing. Five additional CoS levels allow you to further prioritise other applications such as Citrix, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, email and the internet.

Data Transfer of Service
This is suited to most IT applications that require good interactive performance but can tolerate minor network latency such as email, database access, file sharing and downloads.

IP Wireless option
You can extend the coverage of IP WAN with IP Wireless, which provides mobile coverage with all the mobility benefits of connecting to your IP Network. It utilises a Next G® network or Telstra GPRS connection and provides a seamless inter-networking experience for accessing applications. You can have a single point of accountability through this integrated, managed network infrastructure.
